7 Tips to a Highly Successful Recruiting Process

The college soccer recruiting process can be intimidating and overwhelming to navigate. This document has taken coaches’ biggest complaints and transformed them into 7 tips that you can use to help guide your player through this period.

NCAA Student-Athlete Guide

This guide answers important questions for four groups of people involved in the NCAA initial-eligibility process:
• High school students who hope to compete in college sports at an NCAA Division I or II school;
• Parents, guardians and family members of high school students;
• High school counselors and athletics administrators; and
• High school and nonscholastic coaches.

NCAA Eligibility Center
All student-athletes must adhere to specific academic and amateur standards in order to compete at the NCAA level. These academic standards include your GPA, Test Scores, and Core Classes and must be met in order to participate in college sports. The NCAA will also need to verify that you are not a professional athlete and you have maintained your amateur status.

You must complete the NCAA Eligibility Center questionnaire at http://web1.ncaa.org/ECWR2/NCAA_EMS/NCAA.jsp. We would also recommend downloading the NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student-Athletes (www.ncaapublications.com) on the NCAA website for all of the college requirements and communication guidelines.

NAIA Eligibility Center
Do you want to play at an NAIA college or university? The NAIA requires all student-athletes who have never played a championship sport in the NAIA to have their eligibility determined before they can play. Get started by choosing the path for U.S. or International Students!

Applying to College
Here are answers to a few of the most commonly asked questions about applying to college.

Early Action / Decision
About 450 colleges offer early admission plans. Under these plans, students can apply to colleges early — well before the usual deadline — and get a decision early.

Some students who apply under these plans have a better chance of getting in than they would through the regular admission process. Colleges benefit from the plans as well because they get students who really want to attend that college to commit early.

National Letter of Intent

The NLI is a voluntary program with regard to both institutions and student-athletes. No prospective student-athlete or parent is required to sign the NLI and no institution is required to join the program.

The NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution.

– A prospective student-athlete agrees to attend the institution full-time for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters).

– The institution agrees to provide athletics financial aid for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters).

FAQ's

A club administrator can take care of this for you by logging in, searching for the player on the “Athletes” tab, clicking the “Edit” button on the right, switching the team from the drop-down menu, and clicking “Save.” You can also contact the College Fit Finder via the “Contact Us” form to help you.

Since usernames are part of a player’s URL, it can not be changed. However, we can create a new account for this player and attach him/her to your team. They will have to re-enter any information on the new profile that they had on the old one. Please contact the College Fit Finder via the “Contact Us” form to get this fixed.

When you’re logged in and viewing the team roster, you’ll notice to the right there are a couple of symbols with a + sign. When you place your cursor over them, you’ll see which one is to add a Guest Player. You can search for the player to add as a guest to your team, then click “Save.”

Please contact the College Fit Finder via the “Contact Us” form so we can assist you. If this particular player already has an account through another club, we can have them appear on your team as well. If they do not, we will add them as a new player to your team.
